Tasting notes Albet i Noya La Milana
Spanish red wine with a nice aroma of ripe red fruit refined oak and nuances of toffee and coffee. The taste is full of intense and soft. Delicious with sophisticated game and meat dishes.
On a large Mundus Vini tasting of over 400 organic wines, La Milana of the Catalan producer Albet i Noya won one of the nine 'Great Gold Medals'. A prize that does justice to this special red wine composed of cabernet sauvignon merlot and the Caladoc and ull de llebre (tempranillo) grapes popular in Catalonia.
All grapes come from a single vineyard that is situated on terraces. The production is therefore very low; almost two and a half vine is needed to make one bottle of wine!
The grapes are picked by hand and strictly selected on arrival in the wine cellar, after which the vinification begins. After fermentation the wine ripens for 13 months in new wooden casks of French oak.
Nevertheless, the wood dosage is extremely refined and suitable for a large wine. This is a true discovery for lovers of Bordeaux-typed wines but with just a little warmer and softer nuance.
