Tasting note Casa del Canto Yecla Oak Aged
Spanish wood ripened red wine with the smell of ripe red fruit and mild spices. The taste is full of soft and intense. Delicious with roast meat or fine stews but also outside the meal.
Casa del Canto is a delicious full and mild red wine from upland vineyards from Yecla's wine region north of Murcia. The monastrell grape often tannin-rich is tamed here and produces a soft full red wine in combination with cabernet sauvignon and syrah. With a recognizable oak flavor by eight months of aging in American and French oak.
This successful wine from one of the top companies in the Bodegas Señorio de Barahonda region combines strength and flexibility and can be enjoyed well outside the meal. Already delicious but can still ripen for a few years. A lot of quality for this price!
Spanish monastrell in the leading role
The monastrell grape - which is called mourvèdre in France - has a great quality potential in the south-eastern Spanish wine regions of Yecla Almansa and Jumilla. Not so very long ago, mainly alcoholic dark and stubborn 'medicine wines' were made here to stimulate light wines from other regions.
There is now a small group of winemakers of a new generation that stands out for its excellent wines. Moreover, these wines have a remarkably good price-quality ratio.
