Powerful shiraz from Australia.
|EAN:||Trentham Estate Heathcote Family Reserve Shiraz|
Beautiful Australian red wine with the scent of candied red fruit and nuances of oak and light herbs. The taste is full of round and powerful. Delicious with mildly spiced dishes or a nice cheese.
The shiraz is a so-called single vineyard wine from the Heathcote region in Victoria. An important aspect here is the special red soil with loam and marl which retains water perfectly. Partly because of this the grapes ripen well and evenly.
It is a relatively young wine growing region where only the first vines were planted at the end of 1960. Little history but what a quality potential thanks to the mild summer temperature for Australian standards.
Anthony Murphy only harvest the grapes at full maturity and let the wine ripen for about eighteen months on French oak casks. After this period the bottling follows with an additional ripening in the bottle. The 2013 harvest is now beautifully brewed and shows an impressive wine. Obviously with the typical Australian sultry and round taste but nevertheless with freshness and drinkability. No-nonsense topper bottled with screw cap!
