Tasting notes for Carmelo Rodero
Youthful full red wine from the Spanish Ribera del Duero. With an aroma of spicy red fruit and fine notes of herbs and oak. Delicious with grilled meat dishes and spicy cheeses.
The vineyards of Carmelo Rodero are located in the heart of Ribera del Duero in northern Spain, east of the city of Valladolid. Before Carmelo made his own wine, he sold his grapes to the world-famous bodega Vega Sicilia. He is now one of the leading winemakers with his daughter Béatriz, an oenologue graduate in Bordeaux.
What is striking in the Carmelo Rodero wines is the high degree of sophistication and complexity. This is largely due to Béatriz, who introduced the 'Bordeaux' way of making wine and uses, for example, many oak casks of French origin. Every effort is made here to make top quality.
The manual harvest of low returns is processed in a new vinification cellar that would not look out of place in a French grand cru. With over nine months of aging in oak, this wine is an almost crianza with freshness and sophistication. Great class that is confirmed by an impressive honors list.
Heerlijke volle wijn. Wij hebben hem gedronken bij een stoofpot.
