Wine of the year 2017 in Proefschrift Wijnconcours
Full red in color and with a spicy aroma of jam-like red fruit, with spicy and sun-stewed scents. The taste is full and round, with a fresh structure and a persistent, fragrant aftertaste with vanilla.
The red Chaminé is the main wine of Cortes de Cima and has a full, ripe and juicy taste. Here, too, you will find an original and distinctive mix of grapes.
The aragonez (tempranillo) and syrah from Spain and France are combined with the typical, indigenous varieties such as touriga nacional and trincadeira. Because the quality of the grapes is so good and they are well ripened, the wine is bottled without the usually flattering oak maturation. This makes the red Chaminé very suitable for young drinking. Even a little cool on a hot day!
The Dane Hans Kristian Jørgensen and his American wife Carrie started in 1988 with the planting of vineyards in the Alentejo, southeast of Lisbon. In the meantime they have been named Best Producer of this great wine region by The Wine Spectator and known for their extremely pure, not oak-dominated red and white wines.
