Tasting note Kershaw Chardonnay Elgin
Powerful and intensely aromatic dry white wine with toast, oak and ripe tropical fruit in the aroma, such as melon and peach. The flavor is full and round and develops a long, aromatic aftertaste.
Englishman Richard Kershaw started a boutique winery in Elgin with the prestigious Master of Wine diploma. Since 2012, he produces dozens of small parcels - each with a perfect match between climate, soil type and grape variety - phenomenal wines. For an optimal vineyard expression, Kershaw uses specific clones from Burgundy with a low yield per plant. The style is also clearly inspired by top wines from the Old World.
This elegant cool climate chardonnay has a meursault-like allure and has caused a stir in the international wine world since the first harvest. Very beautifully oak-aged and refined in taste with lots of juice, ripe citrus fruit and a long aftertaste. Without a doubt one of the best white wines from South Africa. Production is limited to just 10,000 bottles.
