Tasting note Trentham Estate Shiraz
Deep red in color and powerful in smell, with fresh fruit notes and a light spiciness. The flavor is full and aromatic and develops well balanced, with mild tannin in the aftertaste.
Anthony and Patrick Murphy, the current owners of Trentham have made a great success of their father's initiative. By linking modern technology to knowledge (Anthony is an oenologist) and extremely serious work in the vineyard, they are among the top producers in the region. The grapes for this characteristic Australian shiraz come from Murray Darling in South Australia and ferment after harvest for 7 days with the skin in large stainless steel tanks. After that, a part ripens for a few months in new and used casks of French oak. Shiraz is undoubtedly the strong asset of Australia. This grape, taken in 1831 by a certain James Busby from France, loves warmth and lots of sun. The result is a full, rich red wine with lots of flavor and roundness.
