Round, creamy mourvèdre: a striking wine
Short oak aging: extra complexity
Original red wine, with an accessible taste
Suitable as 'drink wine' but also with many dishes
Cour des Dames Mourvedre
Accessible southern French red wine with a fruity smoky aroma with oak. The full, soft taste goes very well with spicy dishes. Also delicious outside of the meal.
Mourvèdre has been mentioned for years as the new asset of the southern French winegrowers. But it is a difficult grape to grow with a decent tannin content. Making a well-balanced red wine is therefore a special challenge. In the worst case, hard and immature tannins often remain. You rarely see this potentially fantastic grape as 'mono-cépage' (wine from one grape variety).
Whatever it may be, we taste it in this smooth, full La Cour des Dames. The 15-year-old vines give a low yield and part of the wine matures in oak casks, creating a smooth oak nuance.
A special red wine of excellent quality and with an accessible taste.
Spicy detail: the name La Tour des Dames was transferred to La Cour des Dames from the 2014 harvest because the famous Château Latour in Bordeaux (!) objected to the use of the old name.
