Tasting note Chakana Malbec
Full and powerful red wine with a delicious soft taste and a nice aroma of ripe red fruit oak coffee and some mint. Good to combine with tasteful dishes of beef or game.
Malbec wood-frayed wood from Argentinian Chakana is the textbook example of the new generation of Malbec wines from Mendoza. The Italian touch of owner Juan Pelizzatti winemaker Gabriel Bloise and adviser Alberto Antonini comes back in the quest for refinement and freshness. Almost naturally, therefore, high-altitude vineyards in Agrelo and Drummond are chosen for two locations on the foothills of the Andes.
Warm days alternating with cool nights ensure ripe grapes that retain their fruitiness well. The blend of grapes from the two regions distinguishes a beautiful wine from other Mendozabodegas who are more committed to a sultry 'thick' taste. In addition, Chakana opts for ripening on casks of refined French oak. The result? An impressive powerful but also very accessible malbec.
