|Future of modern Spanish winemaking|
|Delicious with baguette and cheese|
Tasting note Cien y Pico
Deep red in color, aromatic in scent with jam-rich ripe red fruit, herbs and oak. The taste is round and smooth, the aftertaste aromatic and ending with mild tannin. Great wine with many lightly spiced cold dishes or dishes from the grill.
Cien y Pico in the local dialect of the Manchuela wine region means something like 'a hundred years and something' and refers to the age of the bobal vineyards used for the La Ceja. Manchuela is located between La Mancha, Almansa and Jumilla. As one of the most recent protected designations of origin in Spain (the area has had DO status since 2000), it is not widely known.
Determining the style of the wines is the high location of the vineyards: at 600 to 700 meters. As a result, it cools down strongly at night in the warm Spanish summer and the grapes retain freshness. Cien y Pico stands for us as the example of high quality winemaking in Spain. No heavy, alcoholic wines, but the production of elegant, fresh wines from high and therefore cool vineyards is the future.
The 'La Ceja' briefly aged in wooden barrels is irresistibly tasty, with a wonderful balance between Mediterranean maturity and cool-climate freshness. Que bueno!
