Josep Mas Barberà is a newcomer to the wine world and started making wine in 2008 for Costers del Priorat, a small bodega created in 2002 by merging two small vineyards. He now has a good reputation; he is known as an advocate of a fresh, relatively elegant style priorat and is invariably one of the first to harvest his grapes. In this way it prevents over-ripeness, which is at the expense of fresh grape aromas. The top wine of the domain is Clos Cypres, made from the grapes of centenarian carignan vines that are planted on steep vineyards. All the work is manual and both fermentations are done in barrels of 500 liters. After this, this formidable red wine, in these barrels, ages for about 12 months.

Well defined restrained aromas of Carignan. Leads with blueberry and acid lift, develops a textured grain of tannin. Nice.
