Pure red fruit, refined minerality and subtle oak | |
Delicious with white meat or poultry |
A delicious Bobal
Elegant, juicy red wine with a pure fragrance expression of raspberry, red cherry, bay leaf, mint and toast. Deliciously mouth-filling and seductive in taste with red fruit, an uplifting freshness and supple tannins. The finish is persistent with nuances of black olive and oak. Nice to drink like this. Also delicious with stir-fried dishes with veal, coq au vin or soft cheeses.
Spanish wine to give a party
PF is a breathtakingly beautiful prestige cuvée from Manchuela pioneer and Bobal expert Juan Antonio Ponce from one of his favorite vineyards. It is planted with over 85 year old bobal sticks. Because they predate the phylloxera infestation (pre-phylloxera), they are not grafted on American rootstocks (pie franco). This is not only a rarity, but also produces a wine with special depth and finesse.
Juan Antonio works his vineyards in a biodynamic way. The vines in PF are planted on sandy soils – precisely the reason they survived the phylloxera infestation, because the grape aphid (which eats the roots of the plants) does not thrive in sand. Juan Antonio picks by hand, in parcels of Lincha, Gallo and Olivares.
Once harvested, the grapes ferment on the bunches, using grape yeasts. The first gives a refined structure, the second contributes to an optimal expression of terroir. After ten months of aging in large French oak barrels, the PF is bottled without clarification and unfiltered so as not to lose any of its authentic character.
The result is truly astonishing: what finesse, subtlety and complexity! With an alcohol content of only 13% you would hardly believe that it comes from hot and southern Spain. Juan Antonio only makes 9000 bottles of PF, so don't miss your chance to discover this beautiful wine. And the name? It kills three birds with one stone: Pre-Fylloxera, Pie Franco and Ponce Familiar. A direct hit, in every way.
