Murailles Corbiere & Boutenac
Dark red wine from France with the scent of ripe berries and nuances of new oak. The full flavor is softly concentrated and balanced. Delicious with wild beef or hearty stews.
Pierre Bories at Domaine Ollieux Romanis
Pierre Bories, co-owner and talented winemaker of the beautiful Domaine Ollieux Romanis, bought the eight-hectare vineyard of Le Champ des Murailles in early 2013. This small domain was set up in 1994 by François de Lignerie, in the past also responsible for the Saint-Emilion grand cru classé Château Soutard.
The plots are located in the coolest places in the 'cru' Boutenac. This explains the long and even ripening of the grapes. This creates a beautiful red wine with the authentic southern French expression of carignan and mourvèdre grapes (each for 30%). The pleasant spiciness and fruit tones come from grenache (also 30%) and syrah grapes (10%).
The vines are up to 80 years old and have a naturally low yield and therefore produce grapes of very high quality. This Grande Cuvée is mainly fermented in a classical way and then matures for another twelve months in two-year-old oak casks. This is Corbières of the highest level! Concentrated but also refined and complex. The example of a top wine from the Languedoc that does not (yet) have the reputation, but does have the quality.
