Merlot meets Cabernet Sauvignon

Fresh and fruity French rosé made from cabernet sauvignon and merlot grapes. Full of flavour. Very suitable for the terrace, but also delicious with cold salads with fish or meat.

Jaubertie with its low yield Rosé

Jaubertie's rosé also deserves all the attention. At the base are cabernet sauvignon (40%) and merlot grapes (60%) with a low yield. The grapes are cool and slowly fermented, which emphasizes the fruitiness.

Hugh Ryman mainly distinguishes his rosé by applying almost the same vinification as with white wine.

20% of the harvest ferments in three to five year old oak casks, which is unusual for rosé. This gives the wine more complexity and a fuller flavor structure. Due to its aromatic power and freshness, this rosé is also very suitable as a terrace wine.

Hugh Ryman on the differences between Bordeaux and Bergerac:

Ryman: “Compared to Bordeaux, our climate is different. There is less precipitation and the climate is more continental with colder winters and warmer summers. In fact, this makes organic viticulture easier in Bergerac than in Bordeaux and explains why already 11% of the appellation is currently certified organic.

Although we plant the same grapes, the influence of the climate gives us a different quality grape. That is why we have adapted the way of making wine, especially with our red wines. Usually we have more color, natural roundness and structure in our red wines and more ripe fruit and natural freshness in the whites.

For the red wines, we are now also looking for late-ripening grapes such as malbec and cabernet franc. These do extremely well in bergerac and make the difference with bordeaux. The same goes for white wines: we have plenty of old sémillon sticks that give a fantastic result. Our red bergerac wines are smoother in taste, they also have more color and riper fruit.”

Lekkere fruitige rosé voor degene die een wat vollere rosé kunnen waarderen.
