Bright red in color and beautiful aroma, with jam-like red fruit and nuances of laurel and roasted notes. The taste is elegant and full and develops refined aromatic with a long, balanced aftertaste.

Côtes du Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

The well-known pitfall in a famous wine region is that producers sell more on name than on quality. You often see this happen and it usually causes major setbacks if you assume that a low-priced offer from a well-known designation of origin is also good. Unfortunately, the inspections for the appellation contrôlée are more about the origin than about the taste. Quality has its price and that is certainly true in an area such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The good reputation is based on a limited group of winemakers who excel in quality.

Such as the small Le Clos du Caillou in Courthézon where Sylvie Vacheron and Bruno Gaspard make impressive red wines. The 'tradition' is the first in the Châteauneuf range. The grapes are harvested by hand and sorted again for quality in the cellar. The fermentation starts with the wild yeast in concrete vats and afterwards the wine matures for 15 months in large wooden barrels. These no longer give off a wood smell, but ensure stability and maturation. The average age of the 85% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% Syrah grapes is 30 years and the yield in the vineyard is below 30 hl/ha. Very beautiful!
