Pinot Gris ( Alsace, Germany, Italy, USA, Eastern Europe, Luxembourg, Switzerland, New Zealand
Grape with a pinkish appearance, which can also give deeply colored wines (Alsace). Descended from the Pinot Noir and so probably comes from Burgundy. The grape easily builds up sugars and has few acids. In Alsace, the Pinot Gris is also made lusciously sweet.
Recognizable aromas: green fruit (apple, pear), exotic fruit (melon, banana, mango, peach); blossom (honey), roasted (nuts, almond), (honey); spices (cinnamon, cardamon); wood (vanilla, cedar, oak).
