From the best Champagne house after Krug according to Tom Stevenson
With the addition of red wine from the best Pinot crus
20% reserve wines give perfect balance between freshness and maturation

Description

'This is a Champagne that looks so perfect in the glass that you know it is going to blow you away, and it does.' So says Champagne expert Tom Stevenson about Charles Heidsieck's rosé Champagne. We have little to add to that. This stylish Champagne from the legendary house of Charles Heidsieck is simply one of the most beautiful rosés available.

Charles' secret is the use of a fair share of reserve wines, sourced from the best plots and vintages and aged between five and fifteen years in barrels. For Charles Heidsieck's Rosé Réserve Brut, chef de cave Cyril Brun opts for a 20% share of exclusively chardonnay and pinot noir. This ratio between young and reserve wines ensures an optimal balance between fresh, youthful fruit and beautiful ripening tones.

The total blend for the Rosé consists of approximately equal parts chardonnay, pinot noir and meunier. Six percent of the pinot noir is red wine; this gives the rosé its subtle orange-pink color. This wine comes from some of the best Pinot crus, namely Ambonnay, Bouzy and Les Riceys, and gives the Champagne an extra generous character.

Only after aging for at least three years in the centuries-old lime-carved cellars in Reims, the Champagne is disgorged (separated from the yeasts) and bottled. This creates an extremely delicate mousse. Drink this enchanting Rosé young or matured, and preferably on it's own. This wine deserves all the attention!

Drink or store?

While most non-vintage Champagne is best drunk young, a Champagne of this caliber can also mature perfectly in the bottle for a few more years. Depending on your preference for a young, fresh or more mature style of Champagne, you can drink the Brut Rosé immediately or store it for up to 5-6 years. Because a non-vintage Champgane cannot state a vintage, Heidsieck has come up with a particularly clever solution. On the back label of the bottle, the house has listed both the mise en crayères and the date de dégorgement.

The former date indicates when the Champagne entered the cellar to mature on the lees, the latter when the yeasts have been removed from the bottle and the Champagne has been finally bottled. This way you not only know how long the Champagne has matured on the domain, but also until when you can keep it yourself!
