Description
Arjolles winemaker François Teisserenc proves once again that he knows how to create superb wines by blending Bordeaux and Rhône grapes with this impressive Arlequin, the family estate's flagship winery. The wine is made from twelve unique barrels, containing twelve unique wines. The results are exceptionally beautiful!
François harvests the sustainably grown grapes—Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Grenache—in the first two weeks of October. He makes twelve different batches, each vinified in its own unique way. He does this by fermenting whole bunches, for example, or with destemmed grapes. He does this by cold maceration or by macerating the skins at a higher temperature.
François then matures the twelve unique wines for twelve to fourteen months in twelve different barriques of the highest quality French oak. Some are new, others used. They also come from three different barrel makers, each with their own signature.
This unique process produces an exceptionally refined and concentrated red wine, with notes of dark fruit, spices, licorice, and distinct toasted aromas from the oak. Pair the Arlequin with a steak, leg of lamb, or game dish, for example.
If you're drinking it relatively young, we recommend decanting it at least four hours beforehand. Or let it age in the bottle for a few more years for added complexity, as this impressive Languedoc can certainly handle that!
