Description
Arjolles winemaker François Teisserenc proves once again that he knows how to produce great wines by blending Bordeaux and Rhône grapes with this impressive Arlequin, the flagship of the family winery. The wine is made from twelve unique barrels, with twelve unique wines. With a particularly fine result!
François harvests the sustainably grown grapes – Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Grenache – in the first two weeks of October. He produces twelve different batches from them, each vinified in its own unique way. For example, using whole-cluster fermentation or destemmed grapes. Through cold maceration or maceration at higher temperatures.
François then ages the twelve unique wines for twelve to fourteen months in twelve different barriques of the highest quality French oak. Some barrels are new, others used. Moreover, they come from three different coopers, each with their own signature.
This special method yields an extremely refined and concentrated red wine, with notes of dark fruit, spices, liquorice, and distinct toast aromas from the oak. Pair the Arlequin, for example, with a steak, leg of lamb, or a game dish.
If you drink it relatively young, we advise decanting the wine at least four hours in advance. Or feel free to let it age in the bottle for a few more years for extra complexity, as this impressive Languedoc handles that perfectly well too!
