Between the famous wine villages of Meursault and Pommard, Domaine Alain Gras lies in Saint-Romain. This village was once avoided because the grapes, grown on the highest plots in Burgundy, often didn't quite ripen enough. Its location has since become a major advantage. The grapes are ripening due to the warming, and the combination with the rocky soil produces wines with minerality, freshness, and elegance—the much-sought-after characteristics of cool-climate wines.
Alain and his son demonstrate this with this beautiful Pinot Noir from old vines grown in a vineyard cultivated according to Terra Vitis guidelines. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected in the vineyard and cellar. After fermentation, the wine is aged in small oak barrels, 20% of which are replaced annually.
