Description
Stefan Winter is a white winemaker through and through. This Blanc de Noir clearly demonstrates this, as he even makes a beautiful white wine from his blue Spätburgunder grapes!
How do you make white wine from a blue grape? Simple. Wine gets its color from contact with the grape skins, which contain the pigments. The less contact there is with the skins, the less color the final wine will have.
To make this white Spätburgunder, Stefan uses only the first half of the pressing. This juice has barely touched the skins, if at all, and is therefore virtually colorless, just like a white wine. Fermentation and a short aging process take place in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine is bottled.
It produces a delicious, surprising white wine. Juicy, mild, and fresh, with flavors of ripe apple and stone fruit, and just a little more depth than your average white wine. Like all Winters wines, it's crystal clear, refined, and incredibly seductive. Original as an aperitif, but also delicious with a variety of dishes. Highly recommended!
Drinking at
Ideal as an aperitif, or to drink with light fish dishes and salads with shellfish.
Tasting note
An original white wine with a refined aroma of peach, ripe apple, and white blossom. Refreshing, intensely juicy, and dry in taste with a light almond note on the finish.
