| Perfect pizza wine |
Description
Ventisei is the young, trendy organic label from none other than Vino Nobile icon Avignonesi. This legendary winery is flourishing again thanks to the efforts of Belgian Virginie Saverys, who took over in 2009. Her major achievements include converting to organic viticulture and appointing a top-notch team of wine professionals.
Meanwhile, her own daughter, Eline Aloy, has also joined the family. After opening a wine bar in Antwerp at 26, she also felt the urge to make her own wine at her mother's estate. Ventisei (Italian for 26) was born.
Eline makes this wonderfully juicy, light-bodied Rosso from 90% Sangiovese, supplemented with a little Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. After harvest, she ferments the grapes in stainless steel tanks using natural yeasts to achieve the purest and most fruity character possible.
This results in a wonderfully juicy, light-bodied Tuscan red wine, with notes of strawberry, cherry, and a hint of spice. It's delicious on its own (perhaps slightly chilled), but also pairs perfectly with pizza, pasta carbonara, or a plate of salumi. Pure pleasure!
Drinking at
A refined, fruity red wine to enjoy on its own, preferably slightly chilled. It pairs beautifully with ravioli filled with ricotta and mushrooms, pasta carborara, or soft, young cheeses.
Tasting note
A light ruby-red wine with a pure aroma of wild strawberry, cherry, and rosehip. A light and intensely fruity palate with lovely freshness and fine tannins. The finish is smooth with notes of bay leaf and cloves.
Shelf life
Now beautiful and keeps well for up to 5 to 6 years after harvest date.
