Description
You can definitely taste that the Château de Passavant family estate in Haut-Layon boasts four generations of experience. What a beautifully pure, biodynamically produced white Loire Valley! And this is just the estate's calling card...
Claire and Olivier Lecomte make Anjou Blanc from Chenin Blanc harvested in their biodynamically farmed vineyards characterized by green schist. They hand-pick the very ripe grapes just before botrytis can develop.
In the cellar, a simple process follows: after pressing, the juice ferments in stainless steel tanks, and the wine matures for another six to twelve months on the settled yeasts. This process preserves fruity, floral aromas and freshness, while increasing flavor intensity and complexity.
The Anjou Blanc has beautiful, characteristic ripe fruit notes of apple, pear and peach, remarkable tension and finesse thanks to the underlying acidity and a wonderfully full, creamy taste with a slightly smoky note in the finish.
A sublime white Loire, best enjoyed at the table. The Lecomte family recommends pairing this wine with fish dishes, duck breast salad, or goat cheese.
