Description
This Piedmontese specialty has been a huge success since its release. It's a true Barbera Passito, a red wine made from partially dried Barbera grapes. A brilliant idea, because the sultry, concentrated flavor resulting from the drying process perfectly balances the grape's natural freshness.
The Barbera is hand-harvested in the hills of Piedmont. After harvesting, the grapes are partially dried in small crates. After ten days, the grapes have lost about a quarter of their moisture, resulting in a concentration of sugars and flavors. After fermentation and pressing, the wine is aged for six months in oak barrels.
And that's what this exceptionally delicious Bricco Lagotto is made of, which, incidentally, owes its name to the Lagotto Romagnolo, the Italian truffle dog depicted on the label. With its sultry, concentrated fruity notes and full, smooth flavor, this red wine is delicious with various stews, meat, and game dishes, with or without truffle. It also tastes delicious with aged cheeses like Parmesan or Pecorino.
