A refined, aromatic dry white wine with aromas of flowers, herbs, bay leaves, and nuts. The flavor is soft and mild with a spicy finish. An excellent pairing with generous fish dishes or poultry.

A delicious Hungarian wine

The white Tokaj, made from the legendary Furmint grape, has enjoyed a good reputation for centuries. Its sweet wines, in particular, are world-renowned. Dry white Furmint wasn't particularly interesting until the advent of modern oenology and its advanced vinification techniques. This was evident when we tasted this Pajzos—after tasting many other Hungarian wines!

The French owner of this winery, the Laborde family of the renowned Château Clinet in Pomerol, also specializes in dry white wine. Using modern cellar techniques, Ronan Laborde crafts this contemporary dry Tokaj. He eschews uniformity and singular aromas.

Ronan doesn't add a yeast culture, but uses wild yeast from the vineyard and cellar. He also forgoes oak aging. This shows respect for the traditional Furmint grape and the unique terroir of the Tokaj-Hegyalja region. The result is a delicious dry white wine that takes a prominent place in our selection.
