Information
Iconic Mosel Riesling
From grand cru vineyard Falkenlay
From biodynamic top producer Clemens Busch
Rich, mineral and complex

A delicious Falkenlay Riesling

Aromatically powerful dry white wine with ripe fruit notes of apple, apricot and tropical fruit. The full and refined dry taste remains mild and long lasting with a lot of finesse in the aftertaste.

Weingut Clemens from the Mosel

Weingut Clemens Busch is one of the important references of the Mosel. The domain of Clemens and his wife Rita is located in the village of Punderich, on the border between the Mittelmosel and the Terrassenmosel. Across the river is the iconic steep-terraced Marienburg vineyard, where Busch owns several plots. Due to the various soil types (blue, red and gray slate) and the difference in location and exposure, each of these plots has its own identity.

Falkenlay is one of those historic plots. As the name also implies, it is a place where falcons like to nest. Because Falkenlay is very sheltered from the wind, this plot is still regarded by the old winemakers of the region as the 'Filetstück' (or best part) of Marienburg. After all, the grapes can ripen perfectly there. The soil in Falkenlay is gray slate. To make this clear, the capsule of the wine is also gray (just as wines made from blue or red slate also have a blue or red capsule).

Clemens and Rita were among the first to switch to biodynamic viticulture. Since 2005, the domain has been officially biodynamically certified. Thus, the emphasis is on the work in the vineyards. Among other things, the use of compost, ground covers and tea treatments ensure healthy grape vines and optimum fruit quality. Harvesting is done exclusively by hand and mechanical work is kept to a minimum in the cellar. The fermentation takes place spontaneously, in traditional casks on which the wine then also matures.

It results in perhaps one of the most beautiful wines of the Mosel. Pure, intensely mineral and complex, full of tension as well as round and soft. Over the years, the wine will only develop more complexity in the bottle. This is iconic riesling, from an iconic winemaker.
