The Montilla-Morilles wine region is located north of the southern Spanish city of Malaga. The wine region has been known for centuries for the yield of exceptionally high quality Pedro Ximénez grapes. This grape variety is used for the production of both dry and sweet Montilla. Even the Spanish government recognizes the special quality and allows the PX harvested in Montilla to be sold as much better known DO Jerez-Sherry. This dry Fino without the addition of alcohol comes from the 15% very best Fino production and ripens partly on wooden casks without mixing with other harvests. It is also one of the few Finos to be bottled with a vintage. Wine journalist Robert Parker rated the wine with 92 points
