Description
The Montilla-Moriles wine region lies north of the southern Spanish city of Málaga. For centuries, the wine region has been renowned for its yield of exceptionally high-quality Pedro Ximènez grapes. This grape variety is used in the production of both dry and sweet Montilla. Even the Spanish government recognizes its exceptional quality and allows the PX grape harvested in Montilla to be sold as the much more popular DO Jerez Sherry.
The PX 1927 is made from very sweet grapes dried in the sun on mats, to which grape alcohol is added. The wine is aged for five years in a solera, which was established in 1927. This system blends wines from very different vintages.
