Tasting note Château Poitevin
Full red in color and beautiful and intense in scent, with nuances of oak, slightly toasted scents and ripe red berry fruit. Round and balanced taste, with a long aromatic aftertaste.
Description
Château Poitevin is one of the many, rather anonymous, cru bourgeois vineyards in the northern part of the Médoc, an area quite remote from the 'big names'. Saint-Estèphe, the northernmost municipality of the Haut-Médoc, is almost thirty kilometers to the south of the Médoc. It can therefore be explained that Château Poitevin and colleagues are not very well known in this corner of Bordeaux.
It is true that no wine of grand cru level comes from here, but extremely good and pleasant Bordeaux. Such as from this winery, where Guillaume and Natacha Poitevin work the vineyards according to the 'agriculture raisonnée'; a method including a minimum of crop protection agents. The wine is made in a classic way, in close collaboration with the renowned oenologist Antoine Medeville. After fermentation, the wine is aged for about twelve months in small oak casks.
