A bright red wine with a vibrant aroma of fresh red fruit and a hint of caramel. The palate is juicy and rounded, with plenty of freshness and length in the finish.

Description

Monte del Frá is known for its beautiful, award-winning white wines from Custoza. For several years now, this winery has also been producing fine red wines in the heart of the Valpolicella region, at Tenuta Lena di Mezzo. Their flagship wine, the Amarone, even earned 94 points from the authoritative Wine Spectator. Monte del Frá also produces a unique regional wine made exclusively from Corvina grapes: Lena.

What makes this wine special is that after the harvest in October, the grapes are left to dry for two months (leggero appassimento). Only then does alcoholic fermentation begin, followed by aging for over three months in large oak barrels. Drying the grapes gives them a more concentrated flavor. The Lena is therefore significantly fuller and smoother than wines without the appassimento method. Well done!
