Chateau Grand Peyrou

Château Peyrou, located on the border with Saint-Émilion and covered by the appellation of origin Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux, was the first vineyard owned by Cathérine Papon. Just graduated from the oenology department, she was able to buy this small domain with the help of her father (also a winemaker).



The fully organically certified 4.5 hectare vineyard is mainly planted with merlot (80%) and both cabernet grapes. The clayey soil type and the location on a slope ensure a modest yield. This, in combination with traditional vinification, leads to a classic wine for storage.

It can be perfectly drunk young if decanted, but the Château Peyrou shows itself most beautifully after a few years of maturation. Only then does the wine reveal its true Bordeaux characteristics: refinement, a velvety taste and a long finish. This top wine has shown consistent quality for many years and, according to Cathérine, is just as good as a beautiful Saint-Émilion.
