Description
Piedmont is best known for its fine red wines. Conterno Fantino in Monforte d'Alba specializes in Barolo and Barbera and is considered one of the top producers. As a speciality, they also produce a small quantity of white wine from the Chardonnay grape. This wine falls under the DOC Langhe Protected Designation of Origin, where Chardonnay is permitted as a non-native grape variety.
Conterno Fantino proves that Chardonnay thrives in this beautiful wine region and rivals the quality of top Burgundies. The Bastia Chardonnay is therefore made as if it were a Grand Cru. Very low yields in the vineyard, fermentation and aging in small oak barrels, and with great aging potential.
