Tasting note Domaine Girard Savigny les Beaune
A full-bodied French red wine with aromas of ripe red fruit and a hint of oak. Delicious with traditional Burgundian dishes like buf bourguignon, but also with steak with red wine sauce.
Description
Jean-Jacques Girard owns 18 hectares of vineyards in the heart of the Côte d'Or region of central Burgundy. Since 1977, he and his wife and son have managed the family estate, which is over five centuries old. In the Savigny-les-Beaune valley, at the foot of the premier cru vineyards, Girard has planted Pinot Noir, which is used for his red commune appellation wine. The fully destemmed harvest ferments in traditional open vats, with the skins and seeds (marc) regularly immersed (pigeage). Maturation takes place for 15 months in oak barrels, approximately 10% of which are new. The result is a full-bodied, full-bodied red wine with length and substance.
