The Montilla-Moriles wine region is located north of the southern Spanish city of Malaga. The wine region has been known for centuries for the yield of exceptionally high quality Pedro Ximénez grapes. This grape variety is used for the production of both dry and sweet Montilla. Even the Spanish government recognizes the special quality and allows the PX harvested in Montilla to be sold as a much more famous DO Jerez-Sherry. The PX añada is made from grapes dried by the sun on mats. The concentration of the grape increases significantly and this is a very sweet dessert wine. After fermentation, it is matured for about 6 months in oak casks. Robert Parker: 94 points!
