Soft intense amber-colored sherry with a fresh aroma of ripe yellow fruit. The full-bodied taste goes very well with desserts and pastries, but also with dried fruit and blue-veined cheeses.
The Montilla-Moriles wine region is located north of the southern Spanish city of Malaga. The wine region has been known for centuries for the yield of exceptionally high quality Pedro Ximénez grapes. This grape variety is used for the production of both dry and sweet Montilla. Even the Spanish government recognizes the special quality and allows the PX harvested in Montilla to be sold as much better known DO Jerez-Sherry. The PX añada is made from grapes dried on mats in the sun. The concentration of the grape increases significantly and this makes a very sweet dessert wine. After fermentation, a maturation of about 6 months follows in oak casks. Robert Parker: 94 points!
