modern white wine

complex and dry in taste
very suitable with spicy fish, veal or pork

Tasting note Bolgheri Bianco Achenio

Italian white wine with a powerful, refined aroma of ripe fruit and toasted oak. The taste is full and spicy. Very suitable with spicy fish dishes, veal or pork.

In 1998, the German Knauf family started creating a beautiful wine estate in Bolgheri, now one of the most prominent wine regions in Italy. The 20 hectares are planted with Bordeaux varieties such as cabernet (sauvignon and franc) merlot and even petit verdot. The vines are close together (9500 per hectare), which ensures a low yield in the vineyard and a high quality grape. It is precisely the absence of the characteristic Tuscan grape sangiovese that made the area known around 1965. Winemakers wanted to break with the traditional Chianti and Brunello and create a modern international style wine. The high quality was finally rewarded in 1994 with its own DOC designation of origin. Campo Alla Sughera is 'on stand' and has famous neighbors with Ornellaia Sassiscaia and Gaja. Campo Alla Sughera makes this white wine from Sauvignon Vermentino and Chardonnay grapes. They are harvested by hand in the early cool morning at the end of August and placed in oak casks after pressing. Here are the two fermentations. However, the vermentino only ferments once and moreover not on oak but in steel tanks. After a few months, both wines are assembled.
