Tasting note Gabbas Lillové
Light red color and fruity, aromatic of scent with nuances of fresh red fruit and a slight spiciness. The taste is smooth, fresh and round in structure and ends with a juicy aftertaste. Great for light charcuterie and pasta dishes.
With an annual production of only 70,000 bottles from twenty hectares of vineyard, the retired lawyer Giuseppe Gabbas is a small Sardinian producer. The Italian wine guide Gambero Rosso nevertheless calls him 'un grande viticoltore' that belongs to the best cannonau makers of the island. In particular, the refinement and drinkability are mentioned. Giuseppes wine estate is located just south of Nuoro, the capital of the beautiful mountain area of Barbagia, and benefits from the coolness of the sea breeze and the mountain winds in the mountains. Partly because of this, the grapes ripen long and evenly, so that the tannins in the skin perfectly ripen and taste smooth. Gabbas does not make dark colored blockbusters, but elegant wines with refinement. The Lillové is made of mainly the cannonau grape (synomism for grenache) and is supplemented with other native Sardinian grapes.
