Top Traisental Gruner
Full dry white wine from Austria with the scent of ripe fruit and herbs. Matured in acacia casks. The strong taste goes well with fish, poultry or veal.
From Mark Huber with 25 hectares of own vineyards
Markus Huber makes beautiful white wines on 25 hectares of his own vineyard in the Austrian Traisental. This small area south of the much more famous and large Kremstal is known for the high lime content in the soil. The climate with cool nights and warm days in summer is ideal for white wine growing. It is reminiscent of the climate of Burgundy which lies at the same latitude.
The grüner veltliner excels in Traisental and is given a special expression with finesse and minerality, partly due to the calcareous soil. The Alte Setzen vineyard has over fifty years old vines and is classified as Erste Lage; a strict selection of the Association of Austrian Traditionsweingüter. The most beautiful and ripe grapes from this vineyard are selected for cool fermentation.
This is followed by a further maturation of four months in large casks made of acacia wood and aging on the dead yeast cells. The result is an impressive dry white wine with both richness and finesse. A deserved top wine that harvests high ratings (93-95 Falstaff points) and belongs to the top of our white wine range.
