Southern Italian Rosé
Although Italy, along with France, is the world's largest wine producer, very little rosé is produced. This is mainly because the average Italian wine drinker only drinks red or white. Nevertheless, a growing number of interesting rosé wines are emerging, particularly from southern Italy. All the hallmarks of good wine production are present here: ample sunshine, highly interesting grape varieties, and more than enough skilled winemakers! A good example is this Salento rosé from Apulia (the heel of the boot). Made from the indigenous Negroamaro and Malvasia varieties, it produces a powerful, full-bodied, and mild-flavored wine that's perfect for enjoying outside of a meal.
