Tasting note
This red wine from Northern Italy is among the finest. An intense and complex wine to enjoy outside of a meal. Perfect with a fine, aged cheese.
Description
Amarone is made from dried grapes that are fermented in January. Because the grapes contain a high concentration of flavors, sugars, and acids, the result is a very powerful, high-alcohol wine.
After fermentation, it matures for approximately twenty-four months in small oak barrels and another six months in the bottle before being sold. A stunning wine with enormous flavor concentration. Even Italians drink it without eating!
Valpolicella a versatile wine region
The same winemaker and the same terroir, yet five completely different wines. That's the unique thing about the Valpolicella region east of Lake Garda in northern Italy. The Accordini winemaking family—headed by brothers Tiziano and Daniele—sets the tone for the region's classic quality wines. Using the traditional appassimento process of drying the grapes, they produce the Ripasso Paxxo, Amarone, and Recioto wines.
