Information

South Africa at its best

A fragrant South African red wine made from Merlot, Pinotage, and Shiraz grapes, aged in oak. The flavor is full-bodied and smooth. The perfect wine for a barbecue.

Cederberg & the Merlot-Shiraz

David Nieuwoudt is currently the fifth-generation owner of this beautiful winery in the northern part of South Africa. The vineyards are located in the Cederberg region of the same name, at an altitude of over 1,000 meters. The cool and extremely remote location results in a virus-free vineyard. Cederberg wines are distinguished by their elegance and purity of fruit aromas and flavors, and have won numerous medals.

The red Cederberger is a blend of Merlot and Shiraz, crafted for fruit and suppleness. After fermentation, oak aging follows, but slightly older barrels are deliberately used for this. The wood influence on the flavor and aroma is therefore nuanced. The round, soft tannins make the wine very drinkable.
