Description

What a beautiful, elegant Viognier from the South of France from Abbotts & Delaunay! Laurent Delaunay, a scion of a Burgundy wine family, purchased the small boutique winery of the talented Australian Nerida Abbott in the village of Marseillette in 2005 and has since expanded the range.

The successful Les Fruits Sauvages series consists of fruity, supple, and elegant single-varietal wines. The series owes its name to Laurent's deep respect for the land and his commitment to preserving the wild plants surrounding the vineyards as much as possible.

Laurent harvests the Viognier grapes for this exquisite wine from vineyards at an altitude of around 150-200 meters in the Hérault and Aude regions, nestled between the Cévennes and the Pyrenees. The grapes are picked early in the morning and immediately transported to the cellar, ensuring they are processed in optimal condition.

In the cellar, a simple vinification process follows: the grapes ferment at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks to preserve as much freshness and fruitiness as possible. The wine then matures for a while on the yeasts, adding a touch of extra body and flavor intensity.

The end result is a delicious white wine, with the characteristic Viognier aromas of white flowers and peach and a full, rounded flavor. Enjoy it on its own, as an aperitif, or pair it with a vegetable quiche, oven-baked chicken, or mature, hard cheeses.

Drinking at
An elegant, smooth white wine perfect as an aperitif or with drinks. An ideal table wine with rillettes, a green salad with mango and walnuts, crayfish risotto, or mature, hard cheeses.

Tasting note
A fragrant, dry white wine with aromas of white flowers, apricot, peach, and melon. The palate is full and juicy, with pure yellow fruit and refreshing acidity. A light peach-skin bitterness lingers on the finish.
