Description
Sketch is a top-notch Albariño from one of Spain's most influential winemakers, Raúl Pérez. Perez has earned a reputation for producing superb wines from the Mencia grape, but he has demonstrated his mastery of Albariño. Sketch is made entirely from Albariño, from vineyards planted close to the sea with 60- and 80-year-old vines. This
gives the wine a 'salty' character.
Fermentation took place in large 750-liter barrels to ensure the terroir wasn't overly influenced by the use of wood. Typical of Raúl Pérez's style. Sketch doesn't undergo malolactic fermentation and rests for 12 months in the same barrels where it was fermented. The total annual production consists of 1,500 bottles, of which approximately 100 reach the Netherlands. If you'd like to try this wine,
