Casa Giona Veneto Rosso Riposato 2022

Description
We previously introduced you to the Casa Giona Pinot Grigio. The launch of this wine was so successful that we decided to introduce its red sibling as well.

Expectations for this are even higher, given that red wine is the specialty of this Veneto estate. While the Amarone and Ripasso are very fine but also more pricey, this Riposato offers that seductive Veneto feeling without the accompanying price tag.

It is made from the region's native Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella, which are harvested late. The grapes then lie drying for about thirty to forty days to give them even more concentration. After fermentation, the wine ages for two months in tanks and a year in large oak barrels. And that results in an incredibly delicious red.

Naturally, the Riposato lacks the complexity or concentration of the Ripasso or Amarone, but it does feature intense ripe and dried fruit, a smooth, soft taste, and a hint of toast from the oak aging. It is perfect as an aperitif or with lighter meals. And the price shouldn't be a deterrent.

Drinks with
Accessible, seductive red wine to drink on its own, with appetizers, or with everyday meals. Beautiful with stuffed portobellos with Parmesan, carpaccio, veal ragout, or aged hard cheeses.

Tasting note
Ruby red wine with an open aroma of cherry, raspberry, plum, and liquorice. The taste is smooth and soft with jam-like fruit, good freshness, and integrated tannins. Mild and juicy finish with notes of bay leaf, raisins, and toast.

Shelf life
Ready to drink and easily keeps for up to 7 years after the harvest.
