Description
François Teisserenc has outdone himself again! After the resounding success of his pure, fruity Brut de Cuve natural wine, we were curious to see if he could create a similar natural wine from barrels. The Brut de Barrique is the convincing answer.
Quite an achievement for François, because while a natural wine from a stainless steel tank already requires meticulous care and the highest quality grapes, this is even more crucial when the wine matures in oak barrels. Unlike tanks, wooden barrels are porous, allowing some oxygen to pass through. Without the addition of sulfites, there's a greater risk of impurities in the wine.
François therefore selected his finest Merlot and Cabernet grapes for the Brut de Barrique, with maximum concentration. He also meticulously replenished the evaporated portion of the wine in the barrels to minimize contact with oxygen.
Once fully matured, François bottled the Brut de Barrique (as the name suggests) straight from the barrel, without fining or filtering, to preserve as much of the flavor as possible. And he succeeded! The Brut de Barrique is ripe, smooth, and exceptionally concentrated. Purely natural with a luxurious touch of oak!
