Domaine Robert Sirugue Bourgogne Aligoté Augustin 2023

The first thing Marie-France Sirugue and her brother Jean-Louis acquired when they took over their father's winery in 2000, the fourth generation of their generation, was a sorting table. Ripe, undamaged grapes are crucial for making truly good wine. And that's exactly what these siblings do on nearly 12 hectares of vineyards in a unique location: Vosne-Romanée in the Côte de Nuits region of Burgundy.

After the grapes pass the sorting table, they await a long process of fermentation, maceration, and aging in some new and some used wooden barrels at Domaine Sirugue. The finest wines are left to rest for the entire aging period, ensuring they retain none of their beautiful aroma. They are bottled pure and unfiltered.

This approach speaks volumes about the dedication of the Sirugue family. "My brother practically lives in the vineyard," Marie-France likes to say. Jean-Louis "does" the vineyards and vinification; Marie-France is responsible for organization and sales. Together, they create juicy, fruity wines distinguished by fine, soft tannins. His father, Robert, laid the foundation, but his brother and sister are busy surpassing him with the remarkable quality and drinkability of their wines.
