Spanish wine connoisseurs have long known: the well-made red wines from the Aragon region offer excellent value for money. But the major breakthrough anticipated by the press and wine trade has yet to materialize. Too often, the mass-produced, inexpensive cooperative wines are subpar due to their unrefined and acidic flavors.

You can experience how things can be done differently at Finca Aylés, owned by the Ramón Reula family in Cariñena. Here, their renowned winemaker, Jorge Navascués, demonstrates that much better quality only costs a little more. His organic Garnacha (the Spanish name for Grenache) grows at an altitude of over 600 meters and is harvested at its peak ripeness.

After fermentation, this full-bodied red wine is aged for six months in small French oak barrels. This gives the wine a slightly rounder and more complex flavor, but without the oak notes dominating. This makes this Garnacha versatile, both at the table and outside of the meal. A highly recommended find!
