Rich red in color and powerful, intense aromas with oak, coffee notes, ripe blackberries, and currants. The full flavor structure finishes aromatically with mild, ripe tannins on the finish.
The pioneer of modern grapes
Louis Marie Teisserenc, the pioneer of modern grapes in the South of France, made a splash in the 1980s and 1990s with his Cabernet de l'Arjolle, a blend of powerful Cabernet Sauvignon and lighter Cabernet Franc. The current generation decided to keep the grapes separate and emphasize the expression of both varieties.
The 2018 harvest marks the first of this impressive, pure Cabernet Sauvignon, made in the style of top Bordeaux wines. The vines are now old enough to combine concentration and soft tannins with a limited yield.
The wine was aged entirely in Grand Cru casks from the finest barrel maker in Mercurey. Many Burgundy producers use them for their elegant Pinot Noirs because these casks impart a beautiful, refined oak character. In this Cabernet, too, the oak note is not overpowering.
For lovers of a more expressive style, this magnificent wine is already delicious. If you prefer a more classic red, further aging is recommended. The aroma and flavor of the oak will then meld beautifully with those of the grape aromas. Interested? Be quick, because with a production run of only approximately 3,000 bottles, this is truly a Limited Release!
