The pioneer of modern grapes
Louis Marie Teisserenc, the pioneer of modern grapes in the south of France, made a splash in the 1980s and 1990s with his Cabernet de l'Arjolle, a blend of the powerful Cabernet Sauvignon and lighter-tasting Cabernet Franc. The current generation decided to keep the grapes separate and emphasize the expression of both varieties.
The 2018 harvest is the first for this impressive, pure Cabernet Sauvignon, which is made in the style of top wines from Bordeaux. The grape vines are now old enough to be able to combine concentration and soft tannins with a limited yield.
The wine matured entirely in 'Grand Cru' casks from the best barrel maker in Mercurey. Many Burgundy producers use them for their elegant Pinot Noirs because these casks provide a beautiful, refined dose of wood. The wood note is not too dominant in this Cabernet either.
For lovers of a more expressive style, this beautiful wine is already very tasty. If you prefer classic red, further maturation is recommended. The smell and taste of the oak will then blend beautifully with those of the grape aromas. Interested? Then be quick because this is actually a Limited Release with a limited edition of only approximately 3000 bottles!
