Description
Bertrand Sourdais, son of a Loire Valley winegrower in Chinon, moved to Spain after completing his internship at Mouton Rothschild and studying oenology at the University of Bordeaux. There, he worked with the legendary Alvaro Palacios in Priorat.
In 2010, he started his own Spanish winery: Bodegas Antidoto in Ribera del Duero. He purchased his vineyards in the eastern and coolest part of the region, in the province of Soria.
Thanks to its high altitude, at a remarkable 1,000 meters above sea level, the Tempranillo grape ripens long and evenly. As a result, the tannins on the skins ripen better, making the wine softer in flavor than many wines from the warmer Ribera region.
Bertrand creates a formidable, impressive style and isn't afraid to showcase the distinct influence of new French and American oak. The typically fifteen-month aging contributes to the complexity and character of this fine Ribera del Duero. Highly recommended with spiced oven-baked lamb or simply with sausage and cheese.
