Information
Beautiful Pinotage from winemaker couple Van Niekerk
From grapes from old vines from Piekenierskloof, among others
The ultimate braai wine

Description

Adventurous and distinctively South African off the beaten track, that is Nieuwe Trek! This special series is the result of a collaboration with the Van Niekerk couple, who also make the wines for Piekenierskloof Wine Company of the Van Zyl brothers.

What is striking about the wines from Jaco and Cerina is their enormous purity and pure fruit character. Now take this Pinotage. The Van Niekerks largely harvest the grapes in Swartland and Piekenierskloof. The sheltered location and professional vineyard management ensure very healthy plants. Thanks to the relatively cool, high location of the vineyards, the grapes can perfectly retain their aromas and freshness despite the warm climate.

Once nicely ripe, the grapes are picked by hand. They are crushed in the cellar and fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, half of the wine matures in used oak barrels. After twelve months, the Pinotage is blended and bottled.

It produces a wonderfully smooth, creamy red wine, with strikingly pure fruit. It smells and tastes of plums, blackberries and a subtle touch of spiciness and toast and is wonderfully drinkable. The ideal braai wine!
